Miami, Florida, December 22, 2025 – The boxing world has been thrown into complete turmoil just days after Anthony Joshua’s devastating third-round TKO victory over Jake Paul at Kaseya Center.
Legal experts say the case could drag on for years. “If there’s proof of fraud or breach,” said sports law attorney Daniel Wallach, “Paul could win big. But proving secret siphoning is difficult without forensic evidence. Matchroom will fight this tooth and nail.”
For Joshua, the lawsuit is a major distraction. Fresh off a dominant win that reestablished him as a heavyweight force, he now faces potential asset freezes and reputational damage. His next fight – possibly a rematch with Daniel Dubois or a showdown with Tyson Fury – could be delayed.
Paul, meanwhile, has vowed to see the case through. In a post-filing statement, he said: “I came to boxing to prove myself. Now I’ll prove that no one can cheat me and walk away. This isn’t over.”
In a stunning legal escalation, Jake Paul has filed a bombshell lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, accusing Joshua and his promoter Matchroom Boxing of breaching contract terms and secretly diverting a massive portion of the fight’s prize money and revenue shares.
The lawsuit, filed this morning, claims that Joshua and his team violated multiple clauses in the pre-fight agreement, including revenue sharing from pay-per-view (PPV) sales, sponsorship deals, and streaming rights with Netflix.
Paul alleges that Joshua was supposed to receive 70% of net profits, with Paul entitled to 30% – a split that would have netted Paul tens of millions of dollars.
Instead, Paul claims Joshua’s camp manipulated financial records and redirected funds through offshore accounts, leaving Paul with far less than agreed.

“This isn’t just about money,” Paul’s legal team stated in the complaint. “It’s about betrayal, fraud, and the deliberate undermining of a contract that both parties signed in good faith. Mr.
Joshua and Matchroom Boxing knowingly siphoned off funds that rightfully belonged to my client, causing severe financial and emotional harm.”
The lawsuit seeks damages exceeding $150 million, including compensatory damages for lost earnings, punitive damages for alleged fraud, and legal fees. It also requests an immediate freeze on Joshua’s assets related to the fight and a full forensic audit of the revenue streams.
The fight itself was a one-sided affair. Joshua dominated from the opening bell, dropping Paul twice in the third round before securing a TKO at 1:32. The bout shattered Netflix viewership records, drawing over 60 million concurrent viewers worldwide. But behind the scenes, tensions were already brewing.

According to the lawsuit, negotiations for the fight included a “side agreement” where Joshua allegedly promised Paul a larger share of non-traditional revenue (such as merchandise and sponsorships) in exchange for Paul agreeing to the fight despite the size and experience mismatch.
Paul claims Joshua’s team never honored this agreement and instead funneled the funds through Matchroom Boxing’s accounts in the UK and Saudi Arabia (where Joshua has significant promotional ties).
Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, responded swiftly: “This lawsuit is baseless and nothing more than a desperate attempt by Jake Paul to salvage his reputation after a humiliating defeat. All contracts were honored in full. We look forward to defending this in court and exposing the falsehoods.”
Paul’s lawyers, however, say they have bank statements, emails, and text messages that prove the alleged breaches. “We have irrefutable evidence,” the complaint reads. “This is not a sore loser’s claim – it’s a matter of justice.”
The timing of the lawsuit is explosive. Just one day after the fight, Paul was hospitalized with a severe concussion, nasal fractures, and possible orbital damage. Doctors have advised him to avoid contact for at least 12-18 months.
Paul’s team claims the injuries were exacerbated by Joshua’s “unnecessary brutality” after the first knockdown, further supporting their emotional distress claim.
The boxing community is divided. Traditionalists have mocked Paul’s lawsuit as “sour grapes,” while Paul’s supporters argue that the influencer-boxer was exploited by the establishment. Social media has exploded with reactions: #PaulVsJoshuaLawsuit trending worldwide, with memes, breakdowns of the complaint, and heated debates.
Legal experts say the case could drag on for years. “If there’s proof of fraud or breach,” said sports law attorney Daniel Wallach, “Paul could win big. But proving secret siphoning is difficult without forensic evidence. Matchroom will fight this tooth and nail.”

The rivalry that began with trash talk and hype has now entered a courtroom war. What started as a spectacle has become a legal battle that could reshape boxing contracts, revenue sharing, and the influencer-to-pro transition.
As the dust settles, one thing is clear: the fight between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua is far from over.
