Strictly Come DancingĀ starĀ Dani DyerĀ has bravely disclosed for the first time that she endured a devastating secret miscarriage. The Love Island celebrity has opened up about experiencing the tragic loss during an early pregnancy with former partner Sammy Kimmence, prior to conceiving their son Santiago.
Dani was in a relationship with her convicted ex-boyfriend following her appearance on Love Island in 2018. The couple subsequently parted ways when he was imprisoned after being found guilty of defrauding elderly victims of thousands in 2021. Prior to their separation, Dani and Sammy became parents to son Santiago. Nevertheless, Dani has now disclosed that her pregnancy was fraught with worry following her previous pregnancy loss.
She revealed: “It was a very early miscarriage”, reports the Mirror.

Speaking to Jamie Laing on his Great Company podcast, Dani continued: “When I got pregnant again, I don’t know how many scans I had. I was literally knocking at the door like ‘Can you check again? Can you check again?’”
“And they were like ‘Dani come on’. I just thought I needed to see him one more time.” Dani also shared that her eldest son Santi “wasn’t planned” but her earlier miscarriage sparked her desire for motherhood.
She confessed: “I wanted a baby then cos that didn’t work out. So I was like this month I’m not going to be careful. Cos it didn’t work out.”
Reality star Dani Dyer welcomed her son Santiago in January 2021 at the age of 24. A few months later, she ended things with Sammy when he was sentenced to a 42-month prison term.
Despite the heartache, Dani believes the experience moulded her into the mother she is today. Dani is now happily married to footballer Jarrod Bowen and they have twin daughters, Summer and Star.
The mum-of-threeĀ was recently forced to pull outĀ ofĀ Strictly Come DancingĀ 2025 due to a severe ankle injury sustained during rehearsals, but she still made an appearance to cheer on her fellow contestants during the show’s Icons Week.
Dani is anticipated to make a comeback to the Strictly ballroom next year. Fellow contestant Vicky Pattison recently confirmed that the reality star is already slated for the 2026 series.
