Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left gutted by a ‘feud’ between two stars of the BBC show. Fans have long been speculating about a feud between two of the professional dancers.

During an emotional final over the weekend, Carlos Gu and Karen Carney won the BBC competition, beating George Clarke and Amber Davies to the crown in a dramatic final which saw the footballer come out on top.

In an emotional speech before their win, Carlos opened up about how Karen changed him. He said: “She’s changed my life. I I think she’s the best thing that I’ve ever had in 2025. I came to Strictly after competitive life, I was self-centred, I was ‘me, me, me.’ I’ve been here the last three years – no wonder I didn’t get partner last year because I’m not grateful and she…”

Fans said the feud was obvious

He cried as he added: “For the first time, I learned to be a team player.” Immediately, everyone rallied around him including host Claudia Winkleman, who hugged him as she told him: “Oh Carlos, you are! You are a team player. You are, and we love you and your partnership is everything. You’re okay, baby. You’re amazing.”

However, fans quickly noticed that another pro dancer seemed less than impressed with Carlos’ speech. Nancy Xu was seen hugging Johannes Radebe, who looked fondly at the pair.

A number of professionals including Michelle Tsiakkas, Amy Dowden and Lauren Oakley looked emotional – but Nancy’s face remained the same. One fan commented: “If you don’t like him then stay out of camera shot and keep your feelings to yourself.”

Another wrote: “Could Nancy even attempt to hide her dislike for Carlos?” with a third sharing: “Nancy so not bothered by Carlos’ tears.” Fans felt the feud was even more clear when Nancy paid tribute to the winners.

She wrote on Instagram, only tagging Karen, “Congratulations for all the final couples! And Well‑deserved Winer @kazcarney and Carlos,” with fans sharing their thoughts on the alleged ‘feud’.

Sources at the time of the alleged falling out said things were “awkward” on set. One source said: “The feud between Nancy and Carlos is really sad and has left everyone really shocked.

“They’ve been close since childhood, but have fallen out and unfollowed each other on socials. The atmosphere on set is said to be awkward and tense when both are around, and to many it was a relief when Carlos didn’t attend the show weeks ago.”

However, another refuted that the pair were anything but professional on set. Carlos later said: “We’re fine. We’ve been friends since childhood, and friends argue, we’re too close and are like brother and sister to completely fall out.”

Following the final, Nancy appeared to offer an olive branch as she shared behind the scenes photos of the episode. “CONGRATULATIONS FOR ALL THE FINAL couples! And Well‑deserved Winer @kazcarney and Carlos,” she added. However, Nancy was unable to ‘tag’ Carlos directly as they have unfollowed each other on social media.

So it was left to Karen to respond to the well wishes with a series of heart emojis.
