The Death in Paradise star, who was partnered with dancing with pro Amy Dowden on Strictly, has hit out after being the victim of a cruel death hoax.

The star shared the post on his Instagram, which showed a picture of him, and what appeared to be a tribute to his “passing” by his son.

The sick joke read: “SAD NEWS: With indescribable sorrow, we share the news that my father, Danny John-Jules, has passed away.

“My father fought cancer for a long time and has now finally found peace with God. Thank you to everyone…

“Shared by: Danté Langlais-John-Jules, son of Danny.”

In response to this, Danny lashed out by re-posting the hoax and wrote: “Whoever finds the ***ish **** who brought my son (singing) into this disrespect of a terrible disease that blights the lives of so many, has my permission to cut their b***s off (Or the female equivalent).”

TIME ON STRICTLY

Danny’s Strictly journey seven years ago wasn’t the smoothest one.

During his time on the show the Red Dwarf actor was forced to suffer cruel taunts about his efforts from trolls online.

The abuse rocketed when Danny faced accusations of “bullying” his dance partner Amy Dowden – something he has always strong denied.

Last year, Danny took a swipe at Strictly after Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima were also engulfed in a bully row.

Posting a snap from his time on the show, he said with a puzzled emoji: “For some reason my DM’s are off the scale.”

Danny added: “I ain’t saying a damn word!! Snitches don’t fear very well round my way.

“Especially for #30PiecesOfSilver and a #StrictlyTrophy #StrictlyComeDancing #StrictlyComeGrassing #StrictlySpeaking #StrictlyPrivate.”

CAREER AS A STAR

Danny has notched up quite a few notable TV roles in his career.

He shot to fame playing Cat in Red Dwarf in the 80s.

These days the actor is well known for BBC One’s Death In Paradise, which he played for seven years.

Danny reprised his role as Officer Dwayne Myers for a 90-minute Christmas special in 2021 after leaving the show in 2018.

Away from the small screen he has enjoyed a film career and supplied voices for the classic film Labyrinth, as well as starring in Little Shop of Horrors, Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels, and Blade II.
