Good Morning Britain stalwart Richard Gaisford’s heartbreaking goodbye in last show before exit
Good Morning Britain viewers have flocked to social media to share tributes to Richard Gaisford, as he shared a sad goodbye during his final show live on air today

Good Morning Britain viewers have flooded one star with well-wishes as he bid goodbye to the programme after 25 years on ITV.
Journalist Richard Gaisford presented his final segment on the news programme this morning before saying his goodbyes. Richard, 53, announced his plans to leave GMB in October this year. And, ahead of this morning’s live broadcast, Richard revealed it would be his final appearance on the show.
Sharing a clip of an old-fashioned movie countdown on Instagram, he wrote: “Counting down to my final @gmb broadcast. My last ever scheduled programme is tomorrow, after nearly 26 years. See you in the morning!”

Richard had a goodbye messages for GMB viewers
Speaking live on air, Richard gave a heartbreaking goodbye to his viewers – after 25 years on ITV, after starting off as a Chief Correspondent on GMTV, before joining GMB in 2014, when the show began. Speaking from the studio while Richard was outside Westminster, Charlotte Hawkins began: “I want to take this moment to say goodbye and thank you to Richard G who has been with us here on ITV Breakfast for 26 years now.
“He is a much loved member of our team, he has travelled around the world for GMB. Been in war zones, covered all sorts of diff stories over the years. He is an exceptional journalist, he is the best, we wish him all the best. Richard, thank you so much. You will be very much missed.”
While Ed Balls added: “On behalf of the viewers, thank you for all of that public broadcasting service you have given, finding truth and objectivity and telling all of us what is really going on with that extra special bit of analysis which we have always got from you .As a newbie on the block I have learned a lot for you over the last few years. Thank you very much.”

Richard said it had been a ‘privilege’ to work with the GMB team over the past 11 years (
Richard then said: “It’s been a privilege. I have had the best job in television, and worked with the most incredible people. I will miss all of you immensely and wish you the best of luck with what happens next year. I am out there looking for some new adventures.”
After appearing on air for the final time, he was flooded with tributes from fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, as one wrote: “Congratulations Richard, broadcasting legend, whatever adventure is next, well done!”
Another added: “Ah Richard, as a viewer you’ve been in my mornings for as long as I can remember. Normally out somewhere cold and dark tbf. I will miss you, as I’m sure many of us will, but wishing you every success in your new adventures. I hope to see you on my screen again!”
And a third wrote: “Good luck, Richard. Thank you for being part of my morning for the last 9 years.”
