Ruby Wax reveals the definitive truth about Shona McGarty and Aitch’s showmance – and the crucial conversations ITV cut from show

Ruby Wax has revealed she spoke to both Aitch and Shona about a potential romance between them while in the Jungle – and their thoughts on the prospect were crystal clear.

The comedian, 72, was the fifth contestant to be voted off I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! on Wednesday night’s show and admitted she was ‘devastated’ after it was tipped by bookies that she would make it to the final.

Fans, and their fellow campmates, noted a potential romance between Aitch, 25, and Shona McGarty, 34, who recently split from her fiancé, after the rapper admitted he had a ‘soft spot’ for the former EastEnders star.

But Ruby has told the Daily Mail: ‘Oh, he’s not her type at all. She likes a hunky man, bigger men, so that she feels female, that’s what she told me.

‘He was not on the list at all, and, their age difference.’

Ruby revealed she had spoken to the pair about the chance of them becoming a couple, ‘because I wanted them to get married,’ but she said it was a ‘no-go’.

After returning from her 19-day stint in the Australian Jungle, the broadcaster posed for cameras at her five star Marriott Hotel wearing a blouse from Zara.

She was joined by her TV producer husband of 37 years, Ed Bye, who flew out to Queensland last week to support his wife and greet her off the I’m A Celebrity bridge.

Vogue Williams and Tom Read Wilson observed there was a spark between the campmates and when asked if she saw it too, Ruby said: ‘No, I just thought, how convenient, they both sing.

‘But she said that’s not her type, she wasn’t interested.’

She added: ‘And he wasn’t interested either. I think he just liked her. She’s into big guys.’

It will no doubt come as a blow to the thousands of fans on social media who were rooting for the pair to get together, as they are both recently single.

Aitch, whose real name is Harrison Armstrong, split with his girlfriend of over a year Lois Cottam, 25, just weeks before heading into the Jungle.

And Shona’s engagement to the Irish musician David Bracken, 38, broke off just weeks before she jetted Down Under for the show.

In the first week, the Mancunian rapper told his friend Angry Ginge by the creek that he had a ‘soft spot’ for the actress, which sent I’m A Celeb fans into a tailspin.

Further still, when the pair were exiled with the likes of Martin Kemp, Kelly Brook and Tom Read Wilson to the Doomsville camp, it appeared their relationship was heating up.

The pair engaged in a close-contact pillow fight and had a discussion about each other’s eyes while staring into them.

On not making it to the final, Ruby told the Daily Mail she felt ‘the public have let me down’ and that she was ‘very upset, I just want to be back in there, they’re my family’

Ruby was back to her usual levels of glamour with a full face of makeup, painted nails and a tasseled blouse

The Daily Mail was told I’m A Celeb producers were ‘over-the-moon’ at the prospect of a Jungle romance and even longtime host, Ant McPartlin encouraged the idea.

He said: ‘I love it. I just want to find love in the jungle.’

But fans will be let down to learn that it is purely a ‘brother sister relationship’ as predicted by their loved ones.

Ruby made it clear that she was gutted to be sent packing from campy just days before the final.

Signing off, Ruby told the Daily Mail she felt ‘the public have let me down’ and that she was ‘very upset, I just want to be back in there, they’re my family’.
