GB News viewers declared “I’m off” after presenter Eamonn Holmes issued a scathing “insult.”
GB News viewers were left offended during the programme’s breakfast show as presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ellie Costello discussed the reported benefits crackdown ahead of Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ autumn Budget. During Tuesday’s (November 25) reports, the broadcasters were joined by Joanna Marchong, head of communications at the Adam Smith Institute, and political commentator Lisa McKenzie. While Joanna argued: “Rachel Reeves has created an economy where it’s easier to claim benefits and not work than actually be employed,” Lisa hit back: “Yes, the welfare bill is rising, but out of those universal credit 40% are actually in work, and they are not earning enough money and are being topped up by the government.”
The commentator continued: “I’m a sociologist, and I’ve been looking at employment for the last year, and I can’t see where these real jobs are.” As she added: “There are Uber jobs,” Eamonn chimed in: “Delivery drivers”, prompting Lisa to claim: “They’re not real jobs.” However, this left many viewers furious as the GB News presenter agreed: “I know what you’re saying, Lisa.” Taking to social media, one fumed: “Did Eamonn really say that about delivery jobs? I’m off to TalkTV.” As another echoed: “Eamon drivers part-time are real jobs. What would we as disabled people do without them, as in food deliveries, medication being delivered?”

The enraged viewer continued: “Or products being delivered because we are unable to get out ourselves, or having families living nearby, or good neighbours. I think your words are quite offensive, saying they are not real jobs.”
A third agreed: “Sorry, Eamonn, but that is an insult to people doing delivery. All work is jobs. Some people are not capable of doing a high-salaried job, but a job is a job.
“You need money to live on. It should not be a choice of lifestyle. Many jobs are advertised for limited hours to fit benefits, so they can keep claiming benefits,” they added.
Another remarked: “I know Eamonn is suffering- but do we have to as well? Tuesday mornings are bad enough – need cheering up, what with what tomorrow’s s**t show is gonna be with Reeves. Sorry, but GB News morning shows are dire.”

“They certainly seem to have gone off the boil lately, love Andrew Pierce but do miss Bev with him, not a fan of Miriam and Ellie is no way near incisive enough in interviews, that was awful with Cleverley,” said a fifth.
During the programme, Eamonn addressed Joanna and continued: “I just want to say, this government was very big on saying ‘we are going to create wealth’ and this is what Lisa’s saying.
“I totally agree with her, and I think ‘how are you going to create wealth?’ You can create jobs, but those jobs aren’t creating wealth; they are part-time jobs. They’re not real jobs, a lot of them.”
