Strictly’s Vicky Pattison admits she ‘knew she was leaving’ the moment the dance off was announced as she finally makes an appearance on It Takes Two

Vicky Pattison has revealed her ‘heart broke’ for her dance partner Kai Widdrington as she knew they were leaving Strictly when it was announced they were in the dance off.

The presenter, 38, made a teary appearance on Wednesday night’s It Takes Two, after her absence from the show earlier in the week.

Vicky and Kai, 30, reflected on Sunday night’s elimination, which saw them voted out for their Jive after going head to head with EastEnders Balvinder Sopal.

The pair told host Janette Manrara while they didn’t get on with the Jive, they were surprised to find themselves in the dance off after topping the leaderboard the previous week with their Tango.

Vicky said: ‘Even though I’ve come on leaps and bounds in terms of my nerves. I am still an anxious girl and if I was ever to find myself in that situation, I think the writing was on the wall.

‘My heart absolutely broke for Kai in that moment because he did everything he possibly could as a professional, as a partner as a friend. He tried everything. I just don’t unfortunately have a dance off in my locker.’

Vicky wiped away tears as she watched her highlights reel. She added: ‘I’ll never be able to put into words what Strictly meant to me, what meeting this lovely man has meant.

‘I think my big takeaway if anybody puts their mind to something and they get out of their comfort zone and work hard and be kind to people, amazing things can happen.

‘You’re never too old to try something new’.

Usually the eliminated couple will appear on It Takes Two the following day to digest their exit, however, Vicky was noticeably absent from the show with her pro partner Kai.

She took to social media to apologise to Strictly viewers who had tuned in to see her on the show as she revealed bosses allowed her to miss the programme for her birthday.

Sharing a birthday snap on her Instagram stories, Vicky penned: ‘A gorgeous evening celebrating with my friends and family!

‘Sorry if anyone was expecting me to see me on It Takes Two tonight! My lovely Strictly family gave me the night off to enjoy my birthday!’

She added: ‘Me and @kaiwidd will be on on Wednesday and I can’t wait!!!’

Vicky also posted a gushing tribute to pro partner Kai, 30, as she said she will ‘miss my beautiful Strictly family so much’

Vicky could be seen as she beamed while blowing out her candles.

Vicky penned: ‘I have had an incredible couple of months and I’m so Grateful to everyone at @bbcstrictly for the most amazing experience!!! I am going to miss my beautiful strictly family so much.. and I can’t wait to watch them all smash it this weekend in Blackpool!!! I love you all!!
